Jennie Vee & The Garden Of Eden

1. Let’s go back to the beginning, when did you decide you wanted to play bass?

I decided to play bass when I was a lonely 16 year old goth OBSESSED with records and felt like a very old soul.  I truly had amassed a lifetime's worth of inspiration by that young age from the likes of Simon Gallup, Peter Hook, Steve Severin, Kim Deal...my bass heroes.

2. You have some amazing tour looks, how do you decide what to take on tour with you and what to wear!?

Thank you!  Again - I am so inspired by stylish and solid musicians!  I feel like my look evolves ever so slightly from tour to tour from 60s meets 90s babydoll to redneck goth!  I pack depending on my tour circumstance.  Sometimes I have to fit everything into a backpack and that's when I usually pack SMALL items for stage like mini skirts and blouses and ONE pair of ankle boots that go with everything.  If I have a wardrobe case on tour that's when I tend to want to wear something different every night!

3. What would be some of your favorite pieces you’ve acquired this year?

I acquired an amazing red suit from LAVEER and I love doing a quick change and donning that for after show parties.  It's so comfy too!  I have actually fallen asleep in my bunk on the bus wearing it a few times.  I also recently scored an amazing cream 60s mini dress and I feel like Dolly Parton meets Priscilla Presley in it!

4. Who are some of your favorite brands and designers?

I love vintage!   A lot of times my vintage scores are hand made.  Early 90s Betsey Johnson is rad.  Anna Sui - perfect ornate bohemian gothic vibes.  I would be OK if I could just wear SAINT LAURENT for the rest of my days.

5. What is next for Jennie Vee and the Garden of Eden?

We have a record release show at RESIDENT on September 19 to celebrate the release of my EP "Suffer", a couple of shows with INVSN that we are really looking forward to and also stay tuned for an amazing video directed by Nedda Afsari - let's just say there's a LOT of style and a LOT of death in that one.

Catch Jennie Vee and the Garden Of Eden on September 19 at the Resident in DTLA and supporting INVSN September 23 at the Constellation Room in Santa Ana.
