From the brilliantly twisted minds of Jami Morgan and Eric "Shade" Balderose of the 2x Grammy-nominated hardcore act Code Orange and darkwave music/production duo NOWHERE2RUN comes Bloodrave, a fully immersive dance experience that is taking the underground rave and electronic scene by storm. Established in early 2025, Bloodrave invites attendees to join in on a night of raw and unfiltered release, and a touch of debauchery, set to a soundtrack of the best in industrial, goth, and dark electronic music today.

With their humble origins beginning in Morgan and Balderose's hometown of Pittsburgh, PA to near-instant success and record attendance, Bloodrave has since set their sights on the nation as a whole. In July alone, Bloodrave has brought their traveling circus of "Freak Shit" to select cities including Pensacola, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.

We had the pleasure of attending Bloodrave LA on July 10th in the heart of downtown Los Angeles at the historic Belasco Theater. Co-presented by Los Angeles' premier hardcore music promoters and festival organizers Sound And Fury, Bloodrave not only made for the perfect black-clad Thursday night on the town, but served as the ultimate kickoff for that weekend's highly anticipated Sound And Fury Festival, which featured the likes of hardcore heavy hitters such as Knocked Loose, God's Hate, Scowl, and more.

Upon entering through a dark alley behind the Belasco Theater, we were instantly transported to a scene straight out of the 1998 cinema classic Blade, starring Wesley Snipes. From dark, pulsating electronic music blaring through the speakers, burlesque dancers owning the stage, dark-red neon lights, signs and chains as far as the eye could see, and a special "blood-themed" cocktail selection, it was clear that this night would be something we'd never forget.Bloodrave LA also featured a plethora of exciting musical guests and DJs, including sets from Diamondstein, Nuovo Testamento, Purest Form, and Shaun Lopez (Crosses), as well as an incendiary live performance from Morgan and Balderose's project NOWHERE2RUN.

As the clock struck 2:00 AM, the night sadly had to come to an end. However, it was impossible to ignore the smiles and excitement within the crowd as we all stumbled back to the surface of downtown Los Angeles, knowing that while many of us would need to clock in for work in just a mere seven hours, it was all worth it in the end.

Bloodrave is an experience you cannot miss, so keep your eyes peeled for future announcements on upcoming events in a city near you. It goes without saying that we will be counting down the days until it returns to Los Angeles again!

We caught up with Bloodrave co-creator Jami Morgan to discuss his exciting new event series and the community he wants to foster in the process. Read the interview and view select snapshots from the event in Los Angeles earlier this month below.

Walk us through the origins of Bloodrave. What inspired you to create this event series and translate the ideas in your head to a physical/tangible experience?

Jami Morgan: So it really started with the question, “If we are going to perform as this new entity (NOWHERE2RUN), what environment would we want to perform in?” The answer was the opening of Blade, and the dance party on Zion in The Matrix Reloaded. Just some dark, gritty, but theatrical club shit from our favorite flick. Not awkward and dry. Like we are deep in Gotham City. We started with a version of the event in Pittsburgh, and people were stoked. Since then, it’s just been growing, and we are trying to grow with it! It's been an amazing place to express our creativity with design, performance, and curation.

What kind of experience and community do you want to offer those who attend Bloodrave?

Morgan: We just want to create an immersive environment for people to lose themselves to with some killer music, with no crazy barrier to entry. As much as we love deep underground shit, this isn't really that. But it's also not something surface-level and without great care. We’d love to bridge the gap between these music scenes we love—like hardcore/metal and EDM/rave culture—to create a cool party that everyone's welcome to. First-time ravers and lifers alike. Dancing till they bleed.

SIICKBRAIN in attendance at Bloodrave

We got to attend our first Bloodrave this past week in Los Angeles at The Belasco, and it was a truly immersive experience. Walk us through putting together the lineup for this event, which included Shaun Lopez from Crosses as well as your own project NOWHERE2RUN, and partnering with Sound And Fury Presents.

Morgan: That means a lot! Thank you. We just wanted to pull from our homies and artists that we dig and knew would be into the vibe of the event musically. Shaun’s someone we look up to and makes amazing music, so him being down was super exciting. Nuovo Testamento are an amazing band and killer DJs. Diamondstein is an LA DJ legend and our brother. Purest Form rip. It was pretty easy to put together and felt like a mix of all the worlds we want the event to melt together. Sound And Fury were the first people I hit up, as they are an important part of our community and our friends. [Sound And Fury Organizers] Madison Woodward and Martin Stewart were super supportive and awesome. We appreciate them taking a chance on our new thing greatly.

Bloodrave’s roots obviously began in your hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, but you have since brought it nationwide to cities across the U.S. such as Pensacola, Las Vegas, and in our neck of the woods, Los Angeles. What has the experience been like bringing the event to new cities, and are there plans for additional new locations in the near future?

Morgan: It’s been amazing. It’s definitely made me feel like we were right in thinking that while there are lots of amazing goth nights and raves, our event is its own thing and that there’s space for it nationwide. It got us hungrier than ever, and we are announcing a ton more events to come! Pittsburgh will always be the mecca, as it's our hometown, and we love the idea of a touring event that has its most prime event in Pittsburgh. But we are so excited to continue to expand and see how it goes!
