Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, we are honored to feature heavy rock singer-songwriter, Sorry X! Having amassed over ten million streams as an independent artist, Sorry X aka Alexa Graves linked up with SBG records in 2025 and has since put out a series of heavy hitting, nu-metal and active rock inspired tracks that continue to capture the hearts of new and old fans alike drawn to her infectious melodies and cutthroat lyricism.
With shows under her belt with the likes of rock veterans Halestorm, collaborations with nu metal royalty Drowing Pool, and an upcoming tour with Of Virtue and Savage hands this July, it certainly seems Sorry X is destined for great things year and you will definitely want to stay tuned!
In an exclusive interview with Haus Of Cult/The Pretty Cult we chat with Sorry X about her musical origin story, collaborating with Drowing Pool on "THE WRONG ONE," her daily rituals and fashion inspirations, plus so much more.

Can you walk us through your origin story of discovering music growing up in Phoenix, Arizona, and the moment you found your voice? When did you realize this was something you wanted to pursue seriously?
Sorry X: Since I was young, I wanted to be in a rock band. I started playing bass because the band at school needed a bassist, and from there, I ended up joining a bunch of different rock bands. One of those bands needed a singer and kind of pushed me to give it a try. Music became a way for me to express emotions I usually keep to myself. I later began writing solo acoustic songs, but after seeing Heart live, I decided to take music more seriously.
A friend introduced me to SoundCloud, where I started releasing music as Sorry X. When one of my songs landed on a major editorial playlist and passed 100k streams, I felt like I was finally finding my voice. Blending my love of rock with my solo project is when everything really started to click.

You obviously cover a lot of sonic ground with your music, whether it's anthemic rock, metalcore, and even pop elements with the occasional hip-hop flair. What are some of the most crucial influences that you tend to pull from?
Sorry X: I’ve been pretty fluid when it comes to genre, but I’ve always known that my music needs to have rock guitar. I feel like it's only been more recently that I’ve learned how to create a cohesive sound with all of these elements, which makes me really excited for future projects. In general, I’m aiming to play at Aftershock Festival, and I always follow what gives me adrenaline.
Your latest single “THE WRONG ONE” just dropped. What is the overall message you wanted to convey, and what was the experience like getting to work with rock veterans Drowning Pool on the track?
Sorry X: “The Wrong One” is a fiery song that sets the tone for where I’m headed sonically and showcases my tenacity, I would say. I wanted to go heavy. I’ve really been leaning into what all my vocals are capable of, and I feel like I’m on the verge of something exciting with that. Drowning Pool really embraced my vision on the song and were so awesome to work with. I am a massive fan of 2000s nu-metal, so I was honored!
In keeping with the collaborative spirit, are there any other artists you dream of working with in the future?
Sorry X: So many! I would love to collab with Papa Roach, Zero 9:36, Wage War, The Plot In You, Ashnikko, Spiritbox, and more. I hope there are many collaborations to come in the future!

Out of all of your currently released songs, which track holds the most personal significance to you and why?
Sorry X: I would say “BULLET” right now because of the song being about finding your power and completely moving on from a relationship, but I’m going to break the rules and say there are a few more coming soon that are extremely meaningful to me.
Undoubtedly, Sorry X is a breath of fresh air in the modern active rock landscape. What do you ultimately hope to redefine and foster within the genre, and where would you like to see rock music head next?
Sorry X: Thank you! I like to push the boundaries, even if it's risky, but I hope that my artistry feels honest, refreshing, and distinct. I’m incredibly inspired by rock artists who are one of a kind, like Lzzy Hale, Amy Lee, Jaccoby Shaddix, etc. I think rock artists who create a world, break some rules, and stay true to themselves will be rewarded.

Who or what is your biggest style/fashion icon or inspiration?
Sorry X: Maybe Joan Jett or Amy Lee.
What is your process like when putting together outfits for music videos, photoshoots, or your live shows?
Sorry X: I usually start with statement pieces, especially if I can see it in my head for a certain song, but funny enough, lately I’ve been screenshotting clothes online and mixing and matching them in a photo editor before I buy anything.
Outside of music, what does a typical day in your life look like, and do you have any hobbies or routines that help keep you grounded?
Sorry X: I like to go on walks, take care of my cats, make dinner with my girlfriend, and play video games when I have time. I’m also a big fan of documentaries!

If Sorry X's music could be the soundtrack to any film, TV show, or video game, what would it be and why?
Sorry X: I seriously think I could write an amazing song for some type of superhero movie or maybe a racing video game.
Looking ahead, what is coming up next in 2026, in terms of touring, new music, or anything else people should be on the lookout for?
Sorry X: I’m currently wrapping up an extremely important project, and I feel like lately my mind is flooding with new ideas, so I’m very excited for that. I love touring and hope to be playing a show near you soon!
